CBD mg Meaning: Why Labels Use mg Instead of Just a Percentage
August 18, 2026
A CBD label might say 500 mg, another might show 5% CBD, while another may list both a total amount and a serving-based figure. These numbers aren't necessarily saying the same thing. Milligrams (mg) describe an amount by mass, while a percentage generally describes a concentration or proportion. Bottle volume adds another variable: 500 mg in a small bottle isn't the same concentration as 500 mg distributed through a much larger volume. Understanding the difference makes CBD labels considerably easier to compare—and helps prevent a common mistake: assuming the biggest number on the front of the package automatically represents the most concentrated product.
